1910's

Robert Frost’s literature really started gaining popularity in the 1910’s.  This was a period of time that experienced a lot of civil unrest.  The public was continually fighting for better work conditions.  Many children had to go and work in the factory at a young age, because of this only 10% of children graduated from high school.  Despite these troubles more and more people were buying books and reading.

Even though many people were uneducated and working hard to earn just a little they still knew how to have fun.  The 1910’s gave birth to the flapper, and jazz music which became increasingly popular during the 20’s.  Other countries strived to copy America’s culture by mimicking our dress, dance and music.
