Robert Frost and Promise of Redemption

The Silken Tent

She is as in a field of silken tent
At midday when the sunny summer breeze
Has dried the dew and all its ropes relent,
So that in guys it gently sways at ease,
And its supporting central cedar pole,
That is its pinnacle to heavenward
And signifies the sureness of the soul,
Seems to owe naught to any single cord,
But strictly held by none, is loosely bound
By countless silken ties of love and thought
To every thing on earth the compass round,
And only by one's going slightly taut
In the capriciousness of summer air
Is of the slightlest bondage made aware.

The poem was published in A Witness Tree in 1942 and is of course written by Robert Frost. In this Robert Frost expresses his appreciation for the beauty of a girl and how that beauty she has captivates him. It really emphasizes the role of the relationship between two people that love eachother. He brings out that it is not any one thing that keeps this tent/love strong, it is a well rounded combination of things that is necessary.
The song is off of a cd called When The Flowers Bloom... by Promise of Redemption. This song is all about how a man feels about a girl. He truly longs for her everyday and feels her presence in all that he does.
These two compositions are similar in the way that they both discuss feelings about a their loves. Both of them also use natural things that are seen in the world, like sunsets, the sky, and wind, to really get across the point and convey the right feeling. Both of them are also very enjoyable.

When The Flowers Bloom... - Promise of Redemption

Watching the sunset with all these pictures of you
I'm watching the sun go down on the bench like we always used to
The wind is blowing these leaves
The sky is staring at me because I'm down on my knees
Just begging for you to come home
No, please don't go
Cause there's so many people that need you in their lives
and God, so do I

You were an angel that we were lucky to have found
And God, doesn't know how good he's got it now
Cause girl, can't you see
I've been up late reading these letters you gave to me
And that line that you wrote:
"I'll be with you where ever you go"
It's one thing that's been inside my head all day
And with every breath I take I'll stare into the sky
And wonder where you are tonight

We spent our last 12 months with heavy hearts, with open eyes
To everything in life
And as I'm watching the sunset with all these pictures of you
You know I'm watching the sun go down
God, I need you now

You were an angel that we were lucky to have found
And God, doesn't know how good he's got it now
Cause girl, can't you see
I've been up late reading these letters you gave to me
And that line that you wrote:
"I'll be with you where ever you go"
It's one thing that's been inside my head all day
And with every breath I take I'll stare into the sky
And wonder where you are

Because we love the ways, that the ways, they stay the same
It's something to rely on
Cause life sure is not
And when you think you have an equal chance
Well life's out of your hands

It just doesn't make sense that life is so precious
And all this time I've been wondering
Why is this supposed to be my reality
It's not fair to her, it's not fair to me

I still pick up my phone, the first number I call is you
I can't help it, it's just out of habit
I still pick up my phone, the first number I call is you
I can't help it, it's just out of habit
